My Top 5 Favourite Brunch Spots in Melbourne

This might be the hardest blog post I’ve written yet because living in Melbourne, we are so spoilt for choice when it comes to brunch options.

After a few months of living here I could easily see why the city is known for having one of the best brunch scenes in the world. So after a lot of thought on what would make this list, here are my top 5 cafes!

1. O’hey Cafe

I’ve now visited this gem probably 4 times, and since it’s located on the complete opposite side of the city from me, that’s really saying something.

Every dish that we’ve tried has been so well though out with lots of interesting elements - this is definitely not your boring smashed avo + toast type of cafe. Scrolling through their Instagram will definitely make your tummy grumble as all of their dishes are very visually appealing.

I can never resist ordering their Signature Brisket which is one of my top brunch dishes of all time. They also whip up some incredible hotcakes, the ricotta and orange flavour combo was to die for.

Find them at 44 O'Hea St, Coburg VIC 3058

2. Secret Grounds

Having only opened in late 2021, Secret Grounds are coming in hot with their stellar brunch menu and friendly staff. The interior of the cafe is clean + modern with gorgeous pops of greenery.

I personally love a good Pumpkin Smash and this one here was 10/10. The sweetness of the maple roasted pumpkin combined with the beetroot, halloumi and cabbage chips worked so well. I’ve heard they do some awesome tacos too so will have to schedule in a visit again soon.

3. Bentwood

This was one of my most memorable brunch experiences here in Melbourne. Bentwood’s warm and welcoming terracotta interior made me feel instantly relaxed. It’s located on a small neighbourhood street in Fitzroy which adds to the friendly/intimate appeal of the place.

They do my favourite Eggs Benny, probably because it’s served on cornbread waffles with sweet potato fries - yum! And the beef brisket is just so tender. Keep in mind that this cafe does get extremely busy on weekends (I was fortunate to visit on a weekday morning) and you do need to book ahead.

4. Feekah Cafe

In my opinion, the award for the most Instagrammable cafe in Melbs has to go to Feekah Cafe! Every where you look is a photo opportunity at this pretty in pink gem. It’s the perfect venue for a simple catch up with friends, a high tea, boozy brunch or even a hens.

I had the Rainbow Pancakes which were the most fun, colourful pancakes I’ve ever seen and just looking at them made me happy. I was surprised at just how light and fluffy they were. If you’re feeling a bit boujee, definitely recommend their 24ct Gold Coffee. It is $12.50, so VERY pricey, but it’s not every day that you get your coffee decorated with gold so I say it’s worth the splurge to feel like a queen.

Find them at 680 Mt Alexander Rd, Moonee Ponds VIC 3039

5. Top Paddock

It’s no wonder Top Paddock is so popular, their food is just top notch. Everyone seems to know them for their Ricotta Hotcakes but I still haven’t tried them yet so can’t comment (but they sure look really pretty). I was probably too busy devouring their Buttermilk Waffles which are a little fancy and 10x better than what you could make at home for breakfast. I highly recommend their Chilli Scramble too, it’s creamy, it’s spicy, what’s not to love.

I also just love how big the space is, where it doesn’t feel like all the customers are dining on top of each other.
