Japanese Eatery in Auckland You Need to Try!

I always love discovering Japanese restaurants and Peko Peko in Hobsonville definitely didn’t disappoint. What started off as a food truck has now expanded into a local favourite with an extensive menu of delicious Japanese dishes.

As well as the amazing and very affordable food, what stood out to me most were just how friendly and attentive the staff are. Despite it being a busy lunchtime, they took the time to refill our tea, provide us with more cutlery and make sure that we were enjoying our meal. It’s the simple things that go a long way.

My number one top pick here in terms of the food is the Salmon Katsu Curry. The salmon was so soft and just melted in the mouth. The curry sauce was super tasty - I couldn’t get enough of it. Another highlight was definitely the sashimi. With tuna, snapper and salmon, they were all incredibly fresh and better quality than many I’ve had at expensive restaurants.

Being perfectly crunchy and salted, the Renkon Chips were just perfect to snack on with our meal. And make sure to save room for the most heartwarming dessert - Homemade Brownie with Matcha Iceream.

I highly recommend going for a drive out to Hobsonville, checking out the markets nearby and stopping at this casual gem for a delicious and healthy Japanese lunch!
